What We Actually Do To Animals 11/24/2009
So you've heard about the animal activists, the vegans, the vegetarians, PETA, WWF, GreenPeace and the like? I'm going to assume you have. I'm going to assume you have your own opinions on the matter also. You are probably very set in your dietary choices and have your own ethical views on animal rights and animal cruelty. Animal Rights has quite the stigma. People that enforce i call non-vegan/vegetarians rude names comes to mind. People that have pride over their choice to eat meat call the animal activists their share of names too. Now I don't care which side of the fence you ascribe to, because I believe what we choose to put in our mouths and how we choose to dress our bodies is a privelege that we have the sole right to decide upon ourselves. I saw this video back in August called Earthlings. This documentary changed my life. A gigantic problem with our society is that the inhumane ways that industries perform (not to mention government and policy, but that is for another blog) is concealed from the masses. Things are hidden from us so that we may not act upon our morals. They do not want us to cause a fuss. And maybe, you would much rather not make a fuss, because you have your comfort, you have your home and your life of least resistance all planned out. Please watch Earthlings and educate yourself on how we get our food and our fur coats. Please watch what happens behind the scenes at the circus and the zoo. Please see how your cosmetics and detergents get tested. Please make your own decisions to ac t or not act based on this real information: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=6361872964130308142&ei=2DgMS4yFDpaYlAfuk9WoDg&q=earthlings&hl=en# This video is very disturbing, but to live in ignorance is even more disturbing. I would like to add that I do not condone the AGENDA of this video. I have grasped from the narration that Earthlings intends for the viewer to change their diet. I do not agree with this. But the information and truth in the video is what can be most useful in our decisions to be socially responsible. I'm going to assume that you have watched this video and now you are greatly disturbed, and pissed off with humanity and how self-righteous and cruel we are as a race. Maybe you want to do something about it. What can you do about it?
